This Sexy Photoshoot Is Helping Vets Show Off Their True Selves

Few things can be more traumatic than losing a limb in combat. Unfortunately, that's the reality for many men and women in the armed forces. When arriving at home, they not only have to deal with the emotional and psychological tolls of combat, but they must adjust to their new limitations. As a result, many suffer from depression and PTSD.

Yet some wounded veterans are taking a stand to show that, even with amputations, they can still be strong and proud of their bodies and their service. Photographer Michael Stokes worked with a handful of veterans and produced a book full of pin-up calendar-style portraits, but with a twist: all of the models are combat veterans who have experienced amputations.

It all started back in 2012, when Stokes worked with a veteran who lost a leg to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

Instead of a somber photo session, though, the veteran decided to pose in a confident, powerful way. Soon, others were inspired.

Stokes decided that instead of going the expected route and focusing on the injuries, thus making the lives of the veterans into tragedies, he would work with them to show who they were beyond their injuries.

The project came to be named Always Loyal, and is currently still in the works as more and more veterans offer to be photographed. The brave men and women want to show the world that though they've been profoundly altered by their experiences, they're still full of life and ready to meet the challenges ahead, whatever they may be.

In an interview with MTV, Stokes made it clear that, he's not doing anything but relaying the veterans' message of confidence and unconditional self-love. " Some people will say to me, 'Oh this is really helpful to their self esteem,' or, 'You're making them feel like men again,' [but] these guys have come to me very healed and ready to take the world on. I'm not giving them back their confidence. They already have it."

Some even opted to pose with weapons, making the statement that although they might be missing some limbs, they're still quite tough.

Some brought in a sense of humor, too.

You can see more of Stokes' photography on his website and Facebook (though he warned that some images may be NSFW). If you'd like to see more sexy vets, you can donate to Always Loyal's Kickstarter campaign and get your own copy.

A Man And His Dog Would've Never Been Famous If His Wife Hadn't Left Him

His Wife Left Him With Nothing But Their Dog...Now They're Famous

Rafael Mantesso, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, had a really rough 30th birthday. Instead of having a super-fun party celebrating the end of the most confusing decade of one's life, his wife left him. She took everything from the apartment: the furniture, the cookware, the art that hung on the walls...but she did leave one thing behind...

That "thing" would be Jimmy, Mantesso's bull terrier.

The two of them have come a long way since that birthday...

And it's all because this dog-dad decided to do some doodling during a pup nap one day.

With all the walls left white...

The whole apartment was literally one huge photo studio.

...And these two took full advantage of it!

He started documenting these adorable photos on his Instagram account...

And in the blink of an eye, he had over 280,000 followers.

People around the world fell in love with these simple but captivating line drawings.

Not to mention the adorable pup who starred in them!

Eventually, Mantesso had taken enough awesome pictures to put a book together!

Have I mentioned that Jimmy has become a fashion icon, too?

Because his namesake, Jimmy Choo, caught onto his good looks and unique style...

And created a whole line of handbags and doggie collars featuring Mantesso's artwork.

But in the midst of all his celebrity, the two are still the best of friends.

Jimmy loves to be the life of the party...

Often interrupting Mantesso's phone calls by bringing him toys or crying for attention.

On the other hand, if he's in the mood for a nap, and dad is trying to watch TV...

The pup will beg for some peace and quiet!

When Her Soldier Son Died, This Mother Grieved...And Then Did The Sweetest Thing

There's nothing worse for a mother with children in the military than the thought of losing her son or daughter in combat. Such a tragedy is always a risk when their kids go into the armed forces, and it sadly happens on occasion.

Yet when Lisa Freeman's son was killed in combat in Afghanistan, she didn't want to dwell on his death and keep her mind in a dark place. Instead, she opted to do something productive that would forever change her world and the lives of others.

She started sewing.

What a touching way to honor her son. I'm sure that everyone around Lisa is proud of the progress she made since her devastating loss. Know that if you are a mother out there who lost a child to combat, you are not alone.

She Stopped To Give Him A Hug In The Street, And The Nicest Thing Happened

Video Below:

Youtuber Stuart Edge is known for pulling off awesome pranks, so while on a trip to London, he decided to round up a few local fans to carry out a feel-good scheme.

After Stuart discovered that London is the most visited city in the world, he decided that it'd be the perfect setting to give out some surprise group hugs. All he had to do was stand in Trafalgar Square with a "Free Hugs" sign.

When someone stopped to embrace him (whether out of enthusiasm, pity, or a sense of obligation), that person was then swarmed by a huge group of strangers. The end result will absolutely make your day.

Even though languages, borders, and cultures might separate us, we all share a common desire for love and affection. And that, my friends, is a beautiful thing.

What Happened During This Dog's Rescue Will Keep You On The Edge Of Your Seat

Video Below:

Unfortunately, most stray dogs go through very harrowing experiences leading up to their rescue. They're scared, unfriendly, and mentally and physically damaged. It's a sad fate that befalls innocent and lovable pups.

Sometimes, even during the rescue, a dog will still be in shock. Take this golden retriever, who had a tough time accepting that the people in this video were there to give her a better life. But once they got her on board, the result is amazing and adorable.
